Back to Mexico City
December 29 Headed back to MC for my final few days. I had big plans to revisit the Anthropology Museum or head up to Xochimilico or whatever. I didn’t do any of it. I was feeling a little burned out and was happy to hang out in Alameda park, near to the Hotel Metropol where I was staying I also ducked into the astonishing Palacio de Bella Artes for the Art Deco architecture. December 30 I took advantage of my location near a major shopping street to get warm clothes in preparation for my layover in frigid Paris. Sears is going strong in Mexico and had good deals on winter clothes almost as good as the nearby street vendors. I also ducked into the Convent Saint Francisco Asis to check out the nativity displays. December 31 Mexico City has some truly world class architecture. I would have seen more of it but museums were closing early in preparation for New Years Eve. The old post office built early in the 20th century was perhaps the finest example I’ve seen of Art Nouveau architecture.
